Jerusalem’s Rockefeller Museum: A Cultural Powerhouse Facing an Uncertain Future

Seven stucco partridges, similar but not identical, stand under a windowsill. They finely crafted, with feathers, and are all gazing in different directions. The window frame above them is rich with reliefs and decorations. This 1,300-year-old item, in almost pristine condition, was transferred to Jerusalem’s Rockefeller Museum in the 1930s from Hisham’s Palace in Jericho.
