In 2024, Apple Martin made her big debut as the all-grown-up daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin at Le Bal des Débutantes. Shortly after footage of the evening surfaced, a bunch of commenters accused Martin of bullying based on two videos: one where Martin supposedly stole the spotlight from a fellow deb’s photo shoot, and another where she rolled her eyes at her date, Count Leo Henckel von Donnersmarck. She was specifically accused of having “mean girl vibes,” followed by an unsubstantiated rumor that Martin had been expelled from school for bullying. Well, more than a year later, Martin is shutting those rumors down.

In a comment reshared to her Instagram Stories, the 21-year-old posted a “quick little message from myself.”

“Hi! I didn’t wanna respond but this narrative is completely false and has gotten so out of hand,” Martin wrote, seemingly responding to a blocked-out post. “I have never been expelled from any school, especially not for bullying anyone.”

She went on to say that she totally understands “ppl not liking me,” and welcomes everyone to “share their opinions” online. But the bullying rumor, she said, is “completely untrue.” She concluded, “I am not that type of person and anyone who is close to me knows that ❤️.”

That certainly matches up with the account of the young woman whose shot Martin purportedly crashed. Shortly after the ball, Aliénor Loppin de Montmort told People that Martin was “genuinely the nicest girl ever” who “doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting.” I’m glad we can all stop wondering whether or not Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter was expelled for bullying and get back to more pressing matters like gazing listlessly upon Alexander Skarsgård’s glasses. Thank you, Apple.
