MORE DETAILS: Two Iranian boats were reportedly caught laying naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a senior U.S. official, the U.S. military destroyed both IRGC vessels and also struck a surface-to-air missile (SAM) site in Bandar Abbas that was allegedly targeting American warplanes.
Two well-placed sources described the actions as “defensive strikes” and said they do not indicate that the ceasefire has collapsed.
