Haredi IDF Soldiers Enter Lebanon to Back Israel’s New Haredi Combat Brigade
New footage shows Haredi soldiers from the IDF’s Maalot Tzur program crossing into Lebanon to support fighters from the Hashmonaim Brigade, Israel’s first full Haredi combat brigade. Their mission: inspect weapons and optical equipment for the troops operating on the northern front.
The moment is bigger than the gear. Maalot Tzur is built for Haredi soldiers serving in the IDF’s Technology and Maintenance Corps while preserving their religious lifestyle, and the unique track reportedly allows service without uniforms or changing external Haredi identity markers.
The Hashmonaim Brigade has already been operating in southern Lebanon under the Baram Formation, carrying out targeted raids as part of Israel’s forward defense effort against Hezbollah threats near the border. The IDF says the brigade has also taken part in operations in Syria, Gaza and Judea & Samaria.
