Members of Montreal’s city council on Monday voted overwhelmingly in favor of a softened resolution on Israel and Gaza expressing “solidarity with the Palestinian people as well as all civilian victims of hostilities,” leaving supporters dissatisfied over allegedly watered-down text and opponents irked over what they saw as a disingenuous attempt to interject the conflict into local politics.
