President Donald Trump is expected to meet with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani at Gracie Mansion this week, bringing the two political rivals together for a face-to-face meeting as the president visits New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting is expected to take place Monday at the mayor’s official residence on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
City Hall said the meeting will focus on issues affecting New York City and its residents. The sitdown comes despite significant political and policy differences between Trump and Mamdani.
The two have maintained communication since Mamdani took office, including both in-person and telephone conversations. Mamdani has said he intends to continue engaging with the Trump administration when doing so could benefit New York City.
Trump is traveling to New York as world leaders descend on Manhattan for the annual UN General Assembly, bringing heightened security and major traffic disruptions throughout the city.
The president is scheduled to address the General Assembly on Tuesday.
