FOREIGN AID? YES! AID TO ISRAEL? NO! El-Sayed Backs Restoring USAID Funding • Jewish Breaking News

It turns out that Abdul El-Sayed, senator-elect from Michigan, is not opposed to foreign funding, just foreign funding to Israel.

In an appearance on “Morning Joe,” the Democrat said he hoped to restore funding to USAID, the lead U.S. agency for global humanitarian aid, disaster relief, global health, and economic development that was shut down in 2025, with most of its operations terminated and the remaining ones transferred to the State Department.

“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough asked El-Sayed what could be done to restore funding to USAID.

“As I try to explain to Republicans, even if you have your amoral about this, it [USAID] also kind of helped us get information, find out where ISIS was, or to find out where the Chinese were trying to move, or where the Russians were trying to move,” Scarborough said. “I mean, food on the ground saves lives, but it also helps America. Can you can Congress get funding back to the poorest and the most disadvantaged people on the planet?”

“I hope we do. And I’ll tell you this though: I also think that it’s important for us to just be direct, honest, and specific about what we want to do,” El-Sayed replied.

“I believe in USAID, and I believe in USAID because if you can stop disease from spreading and get people food, it ends up solving problems for you too,” he added.

El-Sayed has presented his position as opposed to foreign military aid, not humanitarian aid. Although he has named countries other than Israel that should no longer receive military assistance, such as Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates, critics have said his focus on Israel has been obsessive.
