Ambassador Danny Danon Hands Francesca Albanese a Resignation Letter, Calls Her a “Liar, a Fraud, and a Stain on the United Nations” • Jewish Breaking News

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, delivered a blistering public confrontation with UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, accusing her of spreading anti-Israel propaganda, excusing Hamas terrorism, and disgracing the very institution she represents.

The showdown erupted following Albanese’s latest report, which accuses Israel of systematically targeting journalists during the Gaza war.

“You are a liar, a fraud, and a stain on the United Nations,” Danon declared. “Your accusations are not proof, your assumptions are not evidence, and repeating the word ‘genocide’ does not make it true.”

Then came the dramatic moment.

Danon presented Albanese with a resignation letter already written in her name, leaving only her signature to be added.

“The only official letter you should issue is your resignation letter. It’s time for you to go home.”

But Albanese’s history of inflammatory remarks about Israel and Jews stretches back years.

In 2014, she claimed that America had been “subjugated by the Jewish lobby,” invoking a longstanding antisemitic conspiracy theory about Jewish control of governments. She later acknowledged that the wording was wrong.

Following Hamas’s October 7 massacre, Albanese disputed the antisemitic motivation behind the slaughter, claiming that the victims “were not killed because of their Judaism but in response to Israel’s oppression.” Her remarks drew condemnation from France and Germany.

She also questioned accounts of widespread sexual violence committed during the massacre, stating in October 2024, “There is no evidence of rape,” despite evidence documented by UN investigators.

In July 2024, Albanese endorsed a social media post comparing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler, writing, “This is precisely what I was thinking today.”

That same month, she publicly called for Israel to be removed from the United Nations.

And just last month, Albanese sparked another international controversy after incorrectly claiming that Jews sent to Nazi gas chambers were referred to as Muslims. Israel’s Holocaust memorial, Yad Vashem, condemned her remarks as dangerous historical revisionism. Albanese subsequently apologized and acknowledged misunderstanding Holocaust terminology.

Albanese has repeatedly rejected accusations of antisemitism, maintaining that her criticism is directed at Israeli policies and conduct.

But for Danon, the latest confrontation was an opportunity to deliver a message directly to the controversial UN official.

“You are undermining the credibility of the United Nations and exploiting its emblem to spread anti-Israel propaganda.”

His message was unmistakable: Sign the letter and resign.
