Nearly two months after their breakup, the exes were seen dining together at Kiba Smash Burger in Dubrovnik, Croatia on Friday. “They were holding hands at the table and talking closely,” the onlooker told People. “After they got up, they walked together hand in hand towards Old Town. They looked very cute.” There’s nothing like catching up with your ex over a basket of shared fries.
In September — just three days after Ballerini’s 32nd birthday — the singer’s rep confirmed to People that the two had ended their three-year relationship. “They’re two adults who gave it their all and tried to do everything they could to make it work, but ultimately couldn’t,” a source told the outlet. “It happens.”
Ballerini and Stokes first sparked dating rumors in 2023 when they attended a Georgia-versus-TCU game together. The singer then confirmed their relationship on the Call Her Daddy podcast a month later, revealing that they’d met because she’d slid into the actor’s DMs. “I’ve never seen his show, but I just knew of him, and I just swan-dove right on in,” Ballerini said. “His handle is ‘@hichasestokes,’ and I said, ‘Hi, Chase Stokes.’” The rest, obviously, was history.
Their little trip to Europe could signal a reconciliation, but it could also very well just be two exes enjoying one another’s company in a foreign country. Who knows! Either way, I hope we end up with another devastatingly emotional album from Ballerini.
