On Monday, the Vatican confirmed that Bad Bunny met with the pope while they’re both in Madrid — Pope Leo XIV as part of his official visit to Spain and Benito for his Debí Tirar Más Fotos tour. Apparently Leo briefly greeted the singer and his family, who had come to see the pope speak. Which is amazing! I just have one question: Why do we not have any photos of this little tête-à-tête?
According to its statement, to my distress, the Vatican doesn’t plan to release any images of the meeting. To which I say, please? I’m sure Benito and the pontiff had a lot to talk about, seeing as they have lots in common — speaking out in defense of human rights, for example, or being on Donald Trump’s personal hit list. And sure, maybe this was a private, sacred moment for Bad Bunny and his family. I’m just feeling a little robbed of what must have been an incredibly drippy scene. What does Bad Bunny, who can make jeans and a T-shirt look cool, wear to meet the pope? For that matter, what does the pope wear to meet Bad Bunny? The vibes must have been incredible, and I would have loved some photographic evidence.
According to Billboard, people who were in the room for Bad Bunny’s commune with the pope took photos on their phones, and there was at least one official photo taken by the papal entourage, but nothing has been made public so far. Which is a shame. Think about how much those pictures would absolutely torment J.D. Vance right now.
