‘Betraying Its Mission’: Jewish Authors Challenge the Jewish Book Council on Zionism and Jewish Representation


On April 9, a group of Jewish authors published an open letter to the Jewish Book Council, the latest escalation of a long-simmering – occasionally boiling – public discourse about the politics of Jewish identity vis-a-vis Israel, in a post-October 7 climate that has left Israel increasingly isolated in response to its military actions and raised the stakes of disagreements among Diaspora Jews over their vision of the Jewish state.
