‘Better Chance of Dying of Boredom’: Even Cluster Missiles Can’t Stop Tel Aviv’s Nightlife

When Ollie Danon performed last week at the Hameretz2 club in Tel Aviv, a siren went off just before his encore. He and the audience rushed to a nearby courthouse parking lot, where Danon sang “The Great Syrian-African Rift.” There was no sound system, but the crowd joined in enthusiastically, shouting, “We just wanted to hear the all-clear siren.” In times like these, even a concert can feel like a shared mission.
