Ahmed al Ahmed, the Sydney shopkeeper hailed as a hero of the Bondi Beach terror attack, visited the Ohel, the resting place of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, alongside Chabad Rabbi Yehoram Ulman, in a moment of prayer and reflection following the attack that shook Australia’s Jewish community.

Al Ahmed gained international recognition for his extraordinary courage during the 2025 Bondi Beach mass shooting when he risked his life to confront one of the attackers. During the assault, al Ahmed bravely approached terrorist Sajid Akram from behind and momentarily disarmed him before being shot and wounded. His actions are credited with saving numerous lives.
The Bondi Beach attack was a terrorist assault carried out by a father and son duo, Sajid Akram and Naveed Akram, who were motivated by Islamic State ideology and targeted a Hanukkah celebration, turning a holiday gathering into a scene of violence and terror.
Rabbi Ulman is a prominent Jewish community leader in Bondi and the father in law of slain Chabad Rabbi Eli Schlanger, adding further weight to the emotional significance of the visit.

The prayer at the Ohel symbolized unity, gratitude, and resilience, bringing together a Muslim hero and a Jewish leader at one of Judaism’s most sacred sites and underscoring how acts of courage and moral clarity can transcend faith and background in the face of terror.
