In response to the recent incident in Jerusalem, where two gunmen opened fire near a bus stop, resulting in three deaths and six injuries, Hamas has claimed responsibility for the shooting. The armed wing of Hamas attributed the attack to ongoing bloodshed in Gaza.
During a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated his commitment to eradicating Hamas. He stated, “I have sworn to eradicate Hamas; nothing will stop us. We will continue this war until we achieve all our three objectives: freeing all hostages, eliminating Hamas entirely, and ensuring that we won’t face such a threat from Gaza ever again.”
According to the Israeli police, the assailants, two brothers from East Jerusalem, were associated with Hamas and had previously served prison terms. The incident occurred near the Gat Shaw intersection, where the attackers used a pistol and an M16 rifle to open fire on people near the bus stop, including two soldiers and a civilian. Security forces responded promptly, killing the attackers on the spot. The area was sealed off to secure the crowded location during the morning commute.
