“As Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Druze Israelis cast their ballots to elect the next Knesset, today’s 78% voter turnout underscores Israel’s diversity and steadfast commitment to the democratic process—a value shared and cherished in America,” the lobbying organization said.

The Jewish Federations of North America lauded Israel as well, stating, “Today, Israelis turned out in historic numbers to exercise their democratic rights and establish the country’s path forward.”

The organization congratulated Israelis “on a successful Election Day, one that reflects the shared values that bind Israelis and North American Jews, including a deep commitment to democratic principles and civic participation.”

“As Israelis await final results and the formation of a new government, Jewish Federations look forward to continuing our work with leaders across the political spectrum to strengthen the bonds between Israel and Jewish communities in North America and advance our shared future,” the Federations added.

Praise also came from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, an umbrella group that represents dozens of Jewish organizations.

“Israel’s vibrant democracy is on full display in today’s election,” said Betsy Berns Korn, chair, and William Daroff, CEO.

“Israeli elections are always consequential, but this one carries particular significance for the country and its relationships with the United States, American Jewry and the broader Middle East,” they said. “We wish Israel well as its leaders work to form a new government and unite the country around a shared path forward.”

Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), a fierce advocate for Israel, reminded the world that Israel is the only democracy in the region.

“Israel’s Arab citizens, men and women, are turning out in historic numbers to vote,” stated Gottheimer.

“They can vote, run for office and serve in the Knesset—rights denied to many Arabs and women across much of the Middle East,” said the congressman, who is Jewish. “Our critical ally in the fight against terror, Israel, is the only democracy in the region, and today shows it.”
