Jerusalem Protest Marks Five Years Since Ahuvia Sandak’s Death, Police Officers Wounded • Jewish Breaking News

Hundreds of right-wing activists rallied in Jerusalem to mark five years since the death of teen Ahuvia Sandak, but the demonstration escalated into disorder, with police reporting stone-throwing and two officers lightly injured.

According to police, protesters blocked traffic lanes near the Chords Bridge at the city’s main entrance, then moved to the light rail corridor on Herzl Boulevard, rolling trash bins onto the route and stopping trains in both directions.

After repeated dispersal orders were ignored, police pushed the crowd back toward the sidewalk and used crowd-control measures to restore movement; two suspects were arrested for disturbing the peace, and the entrance corridor was later reopened.

Sandak, 16, was killed when a vehicle overturned during a police chase in the Binyamin area of Judea & Samaria after youths were suspected of throwing stones at passing vehicles. Police said they will allow lawful protest, but will act against rioters who endanger the public and paralyze the city.
