There is something to be said about a people that treats its enemies with humanity after experiencing unimaginable horror.
Of the 240 Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists captured during an IDF raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza ten days ago, approximately 60 are now receiving treatment across multiple Israeli medical facilities. According to Channel 12 News, Hamas is getting the VIP treatment at hospitals such as Barzilai in Ashkelon and Shaare Zedek in Jerusalem after the IDF and Ministry of Health shut down its military medical center at Sde Teiman in October.
The Sde Teiman medical compound, which at its peak held over a thousand captured Hamas terrorists at once, was created early in the war in response to public outcry. Israelis had protested against having wounded terrorists treated in the same hospitals as injured IDF soldiers and civilian victims. But as the facility’s numbers dwindled down to approximately 20 terrorists, Israeli officials decided to allocate resources elsewhere with the caveat that it could be reopened if deemed necessary.
“Recently there has been a significant decrease in the volume of activity at the medical facility, due to the change in the activity of the detention facility and the transfer of detainees to other detention facilities. In fact, recently there have been no patients at all at the medical facility,” the Health Ministry said at the time.
“The army and the ministry are making the necessary adjustments to the infrastructure in order to respond according to needs. In the event of renewed intensification of the fighting, the facility will be reactivated.”
How Israeli doctors can stomach treating the butchers that killed their brothers and sisters on October 7 is incomprehensible. But there is a reason why the Jewish people are considered the light unto the nations. While Israel’s heart bleeds, they are proving once again why this moral mantle has been carried for thousands of years.
