The IDF announced the assassination of Osama Tabesh, a senior Hamas commander who served as the head of military intelligence in southern Gaza and led Hamas’s observation and targeting division. Tabesh was described as THE “significant center of knowledge” in Hamas and played a key operational role in orchestrating the October 7 massacre.
Highly connected within Hamas’s leadership, Tabesh was notorious for gifting Hamas leaders with custom firearms equipped with silencers.
His influence spanned decades, with involvement in numerous terror attacks, including the 2005 suicide bombing at Gush Katif that killed Shin Bet coordinator Oded Sharon.
In addition to his battlefield operations, Tabesh led Hamas’s psychological warfare efforts. He was reportedly behind all the hostages release theatrical shows on stage including the the grotesque manipulation of the coffins of the Bibas family, deliberately crafting them with faulty keys and low handles as well as mislabeling the bodies, part of a wider strategy to inflict emotional torture on Israeli citizens.
His elimination marks a significant blow to Hamas’s operational and psychological warfare capabilities.
