From the founding of Israel in 1948 until 2017, a poster competition was a classic feature of Independence Day, with the government choosing a winner each year. In 2017, Miri Regev, then the culture minister, decided to replace the annual poster with a logo – and two years later, the poster competition disappeared completely.
