The number of people killed in Gaza since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 has risen to more than 5,000, Palestinian health authorities said on Monday.

The Hamas-controlled health ministry said 5,087 people, including 2,055 children, had died and another 15,273 people had been injured.

It said 95 people had been killed in the West Bank, which has suffered increasing violence over the past week.

The figures do not include Hamas fighters killed or injured during the attack.

Israeli authorities say more than 1,400 Israelis were killed in the attack and that 222 people, including foreign nationals, were taken hostage.
