Russia has issued a direct threat against Britain, warning that British military facilities could be targeted in response to London’s growing involvement in the war in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that Moscow could strike British military facilities both inside Ukraine and beyond its borders, while urging London to abandon what Russia described as a hostile policy that risks further escalating the conflict.
The warning follows Britain’s decision to provide Ukraine with blueprints and plans for the production of Storm Shadow cruise missiles, which can be used to strike targets inside Russia. Addressing the British public, Zakharova warned of the potential consequences of the government’s actions and declared that Russia could attack British military facilities.
The threat comes amid broader concerns over Russia’s expanding long-range strike capabilities. The British Telegraph reported this month that Moscow has established a network of 10 new bases and launch sites along its borders with Belarus and Ukraine, potentially allowing advanced drones to reach deep into NATO territory.
Satellite imagery and leaked documents reportedly identified at least 59 dedicated launch rails, some designed for advanced jet-powered drones capable of striking targets roughly 1,000 kilometers — about 620 miles — away, placing major European cities including Warsaw within range.
