As you might recall, back in December 2024, Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter broke up after a year of dating, sparking rumors that Keoghan had cheated on her. Well, he would like you to know those rumors aren’t true.

In an appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Keoghan told hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco that he’s been “avoiding stuff.” “I came off Instagram and social profiles. I’ve stopped going to events. I’ve stopped, you know, just socializing,” he said, adding that he’s retreated because of “a narrative that’s not true.” When Lil Dicky asked for more clarity, Keoghan confirmed the “narrative” he was talking about was “that I cheated.” “I never confirmed or said anything about it,” he added. “And, you know, I just disappeared.” Keoghan did not mention Carpenter by name in the interview, saying he doesn’t “want to ever bring anyone else into it.” “But unfortunately, having a relationship in the public eye … it gets put out there,” he said.

Keoghan seems to be describing rumors about him and influencer Breckie Hill, who reposted TikToks identifying her as the other woman in the wake of Keoghan’s breakup with Carpenter. Hill might have just been trolling — days after reposting the videos, she posted a TikTok denying she’d ever met Keoghan and claimed she shared the videos “simply because I thought it was so ridiculous” — but speculation about what happened between Keoghan and Carpenter continued.

Though he didn’t mention Hill by name, Keoghan shared his frustration that people paid more attention to her reposts than to her denial of the rumors days later. “A girl made a video, and then the girl actually made a video and went, ‘Sorry for making that up,’” Keoghan said. “But no one seemed to latch onto that video.”

Keoghan said he’s not saying all this for “pity.” “I’m not asking for people to become my fan and like me, because that’s not normal either,” he said. “I’m asking for people to stop assuming, and also stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can.”
