Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday claimed that Israel is an “illegitimate” country and “the Islamic world must unite to confront the common threat posed by Israel.”
His statement came a day after Pakistan signed a joint defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey in Mecca on Friday.
Speaking in an interview with a Pakistani news outlet, Asif said. “Israel poses a threat to all of us. Islamic countries must adopt a coordinated approach to address this threat.”
“Israel is a product of the Balfour Declaration, which was established in the 1940s as an illegitimate state, and it could pose a direct threat to any of the countries in the region,” he added, perhaps unaware that a similar declaration also established Pakistan as a country in 1947.
