I extend my gratitude to the members of the Israeli Knesset and the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast for allowing me the privilege of joining you in prayer on this significant day of support for Israel. Today marks the 76th anniversary of the United Nations adopting the partition of the British Mandate and establishing Israel as a national home for the Jewish people. While it should be a joyous day of celebration, Israel continues to contend for its right to exist. The families of innocent Israeli citizens, tragically slain and kidnapped by Hamas on October 7th, bear the lasting impact of these events. In a recent meeting, members of the United States Congress engaged with many family members of the Israeli hostages. Heart-wrenching stories were shared, highlighting the plight of young children, siblings, and elderly women held captive by Hamas. For many families, updates had been scarce since October 7th.Just days later, over 200,000 people from diverse backgrounds peacefully marched on the National Mall in Washington DC, expressing solidarity with Israel and its people. Leaders from both political parties unequivocally declared the United States’ steadfast support for Israel. I was honored to stand on that stage and reinforce our commitment. While we find encouragement in the release of hostages and their reunion with their families, our dedication persists until every hostage is safely returned, and Israel’s safety is secured. Through prayer, we will continue to uplift Israel, the Jewish people, and all the hostages. In times of adversity, prayer remains our most potent tool. We pray for peace, human flourishing worldwide, and the enduring survival of Israel—the rightful home of the Jewish people.Heavenly Father, today we approach you with faith and unity, seeking your blessing over the nation of Israel. We implore peace in Jerusalem and relief for all the families affected by this profound tragedy. May goodness overcome evil, light prevail over darkness, and civilization triumph over barbarism. We pray for the defeat of the enemy’s designs and attacks on innocent civilians and our allies in Israel. May the unity of the American people endure, and may objective understanding prevail. In your name, we pray. Amen.
