HAPPENING NOW: The United States has launched a new wave of military airstrikes against Iran, targeting sites across multiple provinces near the Strait of Hormuz after President Trump authorized the operation.
According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes are intended to further weaken Iran’s ability to threaten international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and to retaliate against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces following last night’s missile and drone attacks on American troops in Jordan.
Airstrikes are now being reported across nearly every major Iranian province bordering the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian retaliation is widely expected in the coming hours, raising fears of another major escalation in the conflict.
