If there’s any evidence that magic exists, it’s Lady Gaga’s logic-defying Sunday night. After winning the award for Artist of the Year and delivering a moving speech at the MTV VMAs, Gaga skedaddled out of UBS Arena in Elmont, New York and fled to Madison Square Garden to perform at her Mayhem Ball tour in front of a sold-out crowd. Now that’s a busy night.
Thankfully, both Gaga and MSG let tonight’s concertgoers know that there’d be a slight delay in Mother Monster’s arrival. “NYC Monsters, I’ll be on stage tonight around 9:30 p.m.,” she wrote on Instagram. “Doors open at 7:00 PM!” To make things even more complicated, the VMAs included a later performance by Gaga herself, which was not streaming live but had actually been pre-recorded the night before.
According to my phone’s Apple Maps, Gaga’s 18-mile drive would have taken at least 40 minutes, though the helicopter ETA is most likely shorter. All that on a Sunday night? Sounds like Gaga needs a nap.
