Hack, Leak and Attack: How Iran Penetrated Israel’s Top Security Think Tank


In June 2025, at the height of Israel’s first war with Iran, a ballistic missile struck a residential neighborhood near Tel Aviv University. The blast was also felt at the Institute for National Security Studies, where glass doors and windows shattered. The think tank’s deputy director emailed the board that no staff had been injured, but also briefed them on another front where Iran had scored a direct hit: cyberattacks against the institute and its officials.
