You really can’t make this stuff up. But of course, the Palestinian propaganda machine—better known as Pallywood—has done it again.
In its latest attempt to tug at the heartstrings of the uninformed, the Palestinian Information Center (yes, the one with over half a million followers on Facebook) proudly posted a photo of none other than actress Katherine Heigl, claiming she’s a French doctor who traveled to Gaza “to offer medical help.”

Yes, that Katherine Heigl. The one who played Dr. Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy. You know—fake hospital, fake doctor, lots of dramatic lighting. Apparently, someone in the propaganda department confused Grey’s Anatomy with Al Jazeera’s Anatomy of a Crisis.
What’s next? Paging Dr. McDreamy and Dr. McSteamy? Will Patrick Dempsey be airlifted to Rafah to perform CPR on the truth? Or perhaps Dr. Meredith Grey played by Ellen Pompeo will be scrubbing in on the next ceasefire negotiation?

If you’re wondering how a photo of a well-known American actress got misidentified as a globe-trotting French humanitarian, the answer is simple: narrative over reality. Pallywood doesn’t need facts when it has Photoshop, melodrama, and a willing audience of social media activists eager to repost before reading.
Of course, the original post has since been quietly taken down—probably after someone whispered, “Hey, I think that’s the girl from 27 Dresses.” But the damage is done. The image had already spread, complete with tearful emojis and captions praising the “bravery of foreign doctors helping Palestinians.”
Stay tuned. If Sandra Oh shows up in scrubs at the border, we’ll know Gaza’s casting department has gone full Emmy mode.
