‘PUT ME DOWN AS THINKING IT’S A GENOCIDE’: Jewish Netflix Star Turns on Israel

Jewish actor Adam Brody joined the Jewish actors’ hall of shame, keeping company with such household names as Hannah Einbinder and Ilana Glazer, with his recent accusation against Israel of genocide.

Brody burst into public view with his role as Seth Cohen on the Fox television series “The O.C.” in the early 2000s. He also starred in the television hit series “The Gilmore Girls” as Dave Rygalski, but he has had a major resurgence as the “hot rabbi” Noah Roklov in the Netflix romantic comedy series “Nobody Wants This” (2024-present), for which he earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

In an interview with GQ, the actor, who had never spoken publicly before about the Israel-Gaza conflict, was asked about his “stance on Israel-Gaza.”

“Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” he said. “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.”

“It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago,” he added. “I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is.”

Jewish advocates lashed out at the Jewish actor, accusing him of monetizing his Jewishness and spreading blood libels.

“Adam Brody, an actor who has made a career monetizing his Jewishness for roles, has said he thinks Israel is committing a genocide: a lie and a slur,” wrote Michael Dickson, executive director of StandWithUs Israel, on X.

“Brody knows that to get along in Hollywood circles you had better keep quiet about the people that seek to wipe Jews off the planet and instead come out against the Jewish homeland,” he said.

“Adam Brody announced he thinks the war Hamas started is a genocide; his show premiers on Netflix next month,” Hen Mazzig, a Jewish activist, posted, along with a list of other actors who suddenly did extraordinarily well after throwing Israel under the bus.

Adam Brody’s comments stand in stark contrast with those of the creators of the show he stars in. Erin and Sara Foster, sisters who created the Netflix romance “Nobody Wants This,” have publicly expressed their support for Israel and Jewish communities there.
