Bomb threats referencing “MAGA” and election conspiracies were sent to three of Sen. Chuck Schumer’s New York offices on Monday, prompting federal and local authorities to launch an immediate investigation.
“This morning, I was informed by law enforcement entities throughout New York of multiple bomb threats that were made at my offices in Rochester, Binghamton, and Long Island with the email subject line ‘MAGA’ and from an email address alleging the ‘2020 election was rigged.’ Local and federal law enforcement responded immediately and are conducting full security sweeps,” Schumer said in a statement. “Everyone is safe, and I am grateful for their quick and professional response to ensure these offices remain safe and secure for all New Yorkers.”
“As I have said many times, these kinds of violent threats have absolutely no place in our political system,” Schumer added. “No one—no public servant, no staff member, no constituent, no citizen—should ever be targeted for simply doing their job.”
Speaking later on the Senate floor, Schumer blasted the rise of political violence that has emerged under the Trump administration.

As the nation’s top Jewish politician in Congress, Schumer has often been targeted by extremists. Last November, anti-Israel protesters held a “rage playdate” outside his Brooklyn home. Complete with coloring books depicting “Zionist bullies,” participants chanted “Schumer, Schumer, you will see, Palestine will be free,” while brandishing signs accusing Israel of killing children.
Officials have not indicated whether the email threats are linked to any prior incidents, with the U.S. Capitol Police saying it could not comment on an ongoing investigation “for safety reasons.”
