Footage circulating online shows a business jet descending rapidly toward the ground in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, Florida, before crashing near a roadway. Nine people were reportedly aboard the aircraft, with fatalities reported.
The aircraft, identified as a Learjet 60, appeared to be falling almost vertically in footage captured by a nearby vehicle’s dashcam. Its rapid descent prompted comparisons to a missile falling from the sky.
The jet reportedly broke apart upon impact, scattering debris across the crash site. Emergency personnel responded as authorities began assessing the wreckage and investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The crash occurred approximately six miles from President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach.
According to preliminary reports, the aircraft was descending at a rate of approximately 32,000 feet per minute, equivalent to a vertical speed of 363 miles per hour. That figure has not been independently confirmed.
Audio circulating on social media, purportedly capturing communications from the aircraft shortly before impact, includes a female voice issuing an urgent distress call.
“MAYDAY, MAYDAY, we’re descending 10,000 FEET PER MINUTE!”
Another voice is reportedly heard moments later:
“LOOK OUTSIDE JACK… HOLY FU*K WE’RE OUT OF TIME!”
The authenticity of the recording, the identities of the speakers and whether the audio is connected to this particular crash have not been independently established.
The Learjet 60 is a twin-engine business aircraft commonly used for private and corporate aviation. The aircraft involved was reportedly valued at approximately $2 million.
Investigators are expected to examine flight data, air traffic control communications, maintenance records and other evidence to determine what caused the aircraft’s rapid descent.
Although nine people were reportedly aboard, the exact number of fatalities has not been officially confirmed.
