SHOCKING REVELATION: The FlyDubai copilot who stabbed the captain and sent Flight 1073 diving toward the ground had previously been banned from flying by Oman over concerns he had adopted radical ideological views, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Despite that ban, FlyDubai later hired the Omani national and allowed him to fly the sensitive UAE-Israel route. It remains unclear whether Oman shared its concerns with the UAE or other airlines, or what specifically prompted the earlier ban. The UAE is leading the investigation into the attempted hijacking.
