BREAKING: One Killed as Training Plane Crashes and Catches Fire in Northern Israel

One man was killed and another injured Friday morning when a light aircraft crashed during a training flight near Kafr Qara, alongside Route 65, and caught fire.

United Hatzalah said its volunteers treated a man with burns to his upper body. Firefighters extricated a second man from the wreckage, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police subsequently confirmed the death.

The survivor, 34, was evacuated to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. Emergency responders initially described his condition as moderate; a subsequent update listed it as moderate to serious.

Flames spread into nearby vegetation and threatened homes before firefighters brought the blaze under control. Police closed Route 65 in the area during the emergency response.
