IDF troops arrested a terrorist on Rosh Hashanah who was planning to carry out an imminent shooting attack on Israeli civilians, the IDF spokesperson revealed on Monday.
The arrest was carried out in Chevron on Shabbos, the first day of Rosh Hashanah.
The IDF spokesperson said that “IDF forces operated in the city of Chevron in the Yehuda Brigade and arrested the terrorist Abd al-Rahman under the guidance of the Shin Bet.
“The terrorist planned to carry out a shooting attack in the immediate future against Israeli citizens. IDF forces continue to operate to thwart terrorism throughout the Yehuda and Shomron Division,” the statement said.
In the days leading up to Rosh Hashanah, Central Command forces raised their readiness level in Yehuda and Shomron and stepped up counterterrorism operations, including the arrest of more than 220 wanted suspects throughout the area.
